On September 24th I caught a 6 pound channel cat on my 5/6 weight fly rod while fishing for sunfish for flathead cat bait. I was using a red wet fly with a small piece of squid tentacle as hook dressing. Took about 10 minutes to boat the fish. great fun on that light tackle. Now I plan on persuing channel cat with fly rod on a regular basis.
