I started using cut bluegill for channel cat bait this year and have been having great success with it. Haven't been skunked yet. Catfish prefer baits they feed on naturally and bluegill is common for them. Last weekend I was the only one to catch channels where I was fishing at Saguaro Lake, everyone else was using nightcrawlers, chicken liver, hot dogs, shrimp. I catch a live well full of bluegills for live flathead cat bait and some always die so I started using cut bluegill for bait for channels. And the rest is history!
